  • North American PCB sales growth in December 2016
    Date :2017-2-9

January 31, 2017, Bannockburn, Illinois - IPC - The International Electronics Industry Connection Institute® today released the December 2016 PCB Industry Survey Report for North America. The report shows a steady increase in December PCB shipments, but orders shipments fell to 0.98.
Total PCB shipments in North America in December 2016 increased 5.9 percent year-over-year and year-to-date shipments grew 2.9 percent, while shipments increased 12.3 percent in December from a year earlier. .
North American PCB orders in 2016, down 2.2% in December, resulting in orders for the year-to-date growth rate of -0.7%; compared with last month, orders in December increased by 11.6%.
"In December, PCB sales and orders in North America were up on a year-on-year basis, but orders were still below last year's level," said Sharon Starr, IPC's director of market research. "Order-to-shipment ratios were negative for two consecutive months Value range, which is a seasonal factor, do not worry .2017 orders are expected to resume growth.
    Report details
"December PCB industry research report in North America" will be published next week. The report details the sales volume, order volume, and order-to-shipment ratio of rigid PCBs and flexible PCBs, the growth of different company sizes, other important real-time data such as military industry, medical market growth and model demand .
    Data interpretation
Order-to-ship ratio is obtained by dividing the order volume of the sample companies involved in the IPC research project by the sales over the same period over the past three months. A ratio of more than 1.00 indicates that current demand outstrips supply, signaling a three to six month period of growth in sales. A ratio of less than 1.00 indicates that the current supply is greater than the demand.
Year-on-year growth rate and year-to-date growth rate, to explore the development trend of the industry has a guiding significance. Cyclical data because of its cyclical and short-term changes in the impact of factors that need to be treated with caution. Changes in order data are more significant than in shipment data, and changes in order-to-shipment ratios between month and month are less significant unless there is a significant trend for more than three consecutive months. Exploring the causes of changes in orders and shipments is just as important as understanding the changes in order-to-shipment ratios.
IPC's monthly PCB industry statistics come from local data on a regular basis from sample manufacturers of rigid and flexible PCB manufacturers in the US and Canada. IPC will publish monthly PCB order shipment ratio and PCB statistics report. Monthly statistical reports will be released in the last week of the following month.
